App FAQs

Free subscription, with bonus extras!

Do you wish you had the transcript? If reading along would help you in your English studies, either the Dramatic Listening app or a subscription through The Podcast Source is your best choice. Get study materials — wordlists and transcript (PDF) with every lesson, and the full radio play .mp3 at the end of every story.

I want the extras. How do I get the Dramatic Listening podcast and all the free study material on my mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android phone, or Windows phone)?
  1. Check your App Store for ‘The Podcast Source’ by Wizzard Media. It is now available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows App Store, and the Amazon Appstore.
  2. Install “The Podcast Source”. It is free.
  3. In the ‘search box’ at the top right-hand corner of the ‘Featured’ page, type in Dramatic Listening. Click on the Dramatic Listening podcast. You can subscribe for free! Just click on “Subscribe”, and then enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Dramatic Listening in The Podcast Source comes with these extras — wordlist and transcript PDF with each episode, and the complete radio play .mp3 with the final lesson of each radio play.

I don’t need all the transcripts. How do I subscribe to the free podcast on my Android phone?
  1. Install a podcast player on your Android phone. Search the app store for ‘podcast player’ or ‘pod catcher’. Some of these are free; others are not. Some recommended free apps are Podcatcher (by unkemptuous), Pod Cast Addict (by Xavier Guillemane), Simple Podcatcher (by Kevin Hausmann) and Podkicker Podcast Player (by qvga).
  2. In the podcast player app, search for ‘Dramatic Listening’ and click on ‘subscribe’.
  3. OR manually add the feed in the podcast player: www.dramaticlistening.com/feed/podcast/
  4. Recent and future episodes include a link to the bonus material (Wordlist and Transcript PDF) in the episode description.

I don’t need all the transcripts. How do I subscribe to the free podcast on my iPhone, iPad, or iPod?
  1. You probably already have Apple’s Podcast app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If you don’t, go to the App Store and get it, or do a search for ‘podcast player’ (also called ‘podcatcher’) and get the one of your choice.
  2. In the Podcast app, search for ‘Dramatic Listening’ and click on ‘subscribe’.
  3. Recent and future episodes include a link to the bonus material (Wordlist and Transcript PDF) in the episode description.

I’m willing to pay to get the extras in a stand-along app.. How can I get the Dramatic Listening app on my Android phone?

You can get the Dramatic Listening app for Android phones from Amazon.com. If your country does not have Amazon, or if you cannot find Dramatic Listening in your country’s Amazon store, you can still get it from Amazon.com. You don’t have to be living in the United States.

  1. Create an Amazon.com account. You will need a credit or debit card (such as the Taiwan Post Office VISA debit card linked to your Post Office bank account). If it is in your local currency, that is okay, but Amazon.com will charge in $US for digital purchases.
  2. Install “Amazon Appstore” on your Android or Blackberry phone.
  3. In the Amazon Appstore, download, and install the Dramatic Listening app for $1.99 US.

I would rather listen to a streaming podcast than download.

If you want to save space on your phone and you are on Wi-Fi, or have an unlimited data plan, Stitcher is a great way to listen to Dramatic Listening.

  1. Just click on the ‘Stitcher’ widget to the right of this page.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the Dramatic Listening Stitcher page and choose to get the Stitcher app from the iTunes App Store (for Apple devices) or from Google Play (for Androids).
  3. Install the Stitcher app.
  4. Search for Dramatic Listening.

I don’t have a Smartphone. Can I listen to Dramatic Listening on my computer?

Of course! You can subscribe and listen in iTunes.

  1. Install iTunes.
  2. You will see icons for music, movies, TV shows, and ‘more’ (3 dots). From the ‘more’ icon, choose ‘podcasts’.
  3. In the upper right-hand corner, there is a search box. Search for “Dramatic Listening”.
  4. Below a list of episodes, you will see ‘Podcasts’, ‘iPhone Apps’ and  ‘iPad Apps’. Click on ‘Podcasts’.
  5. Click on Subscribe. This will keep the podcast episodes up-to-date in iTunes.
  6. In the top bar of iTunes, go to My Podcasts. You will find Dramatic Listening in the list of podcasts you subscribe to. The episodes are listed in the main content area. Click on the cloud icon to download the .mp3 to your computer.
  7. Right-click the podcast (in the left menu) and choose “Podcast Settings”. Here, you can change the play order, sort order, download and delete functions of this podcast in your iTunes app.
