“Put two and two together” is an idiom. When we “put two and two together”, we are able to draw a conclusion from the information or evidence that we have. So why am I calling this episode “2+2=4”? Well, the inspector gets new information, puts it together with what he already knows, and “Voila!” He’s sure he’s on the right track!
